Yahoo!7 and 3 mobile have joined forces to launch a first-in-kind experiential program for Australian advertising agencies with the goal of creating Australia’s first Mobile Champions.
A group of five online advertising executives from Mindshare, Emitch, MediaComm and Universal McCann have been selected to participate in a four week program where they will be tasked with completing a series of short mobile tasks mirroring a range of mobile advertising user experiences.
Each week the participants will receive an email, SMS or voicemail containing their task instructions with those completing the tasks first earning the most points, and being in line for the title of Mobile Champion.
Tommaso Del Re, Head of Mobile for Yahoo!7 said the program was designed to educate the participants on the marketing and advertising opportunities that mobile offers, while building their understanding of the Yahoo!7 and 3 mobile offering.
“Yahoo!7 and 3 mobile has one of the largest and most active mobile audiences in Australia. Over the past six months we have experienced a significant increase in awareness and interest in learning more about mobile advertising from our advertising clients. We see the Mobile Champion Agency Challenge as a fun way to help our agency partners become more familiar with the opportunities that mobile offers advertisers, and subsequently consider mobile as an integral part of their digital media buy,“ he said.
”One of the stumbling blocks to growth that we have noted is the fact that agency executives have often not experienced first hand what mobile can do. The Mobile Champion Agency Challenge has been designed to provide participants with real life device interactions that an every day 3 mobile customer experiences, so that they are better informed to recommend mobile to their clients.”
The Mobile Champion Agency Challenge will run throughout July and August with the winners being announced in late August.
