Home Page OTP Ad (over the page)

Yahoo!7 OTP Placement

How it works:

The Home Page OTP execution has an initial auto-expanded panel that appears over content on the Yahoo!7 home page for up to 8 seconds before resolving to a 'leave behind' into the LREC (MREC) position.

The OTP element is capped at once per user per day with the leave behind displaying on any subsequent visits. The ad can be third party served, for a detailed up-to-date list of third parties accepted for Homepage serving click here or built and hosted by Yahoo!7.

If it is to be hosted by us then the assets required are as follows (these can also be used as a specs guide if the ad is third party hosted):

    Asset Delivery Time
  • Assets required 10 working days prior to live date

This code must be added to any hit area (must be a button symbol) intended to click through to the advertisers web site.

on(release) { _root.clickTAG.toLowerCase(); if ((_root.clickTAG.indexOf("http://") == 0) || (_root.clickTAG.indexOf("https://") == 0)) { getURL(_root.clickTAG, "_blank"); } }

The Fine Print:

  • Transparency may be used in small areas in the OTP layer but no transparent area can be clickable. If your proposed concept has a lot of transparency in should be sent to Yahoo!7 for review.
  • An active close button must be visible for the duration of the expansion. Minimum hotspot 70 pixels x 30 pixels. It must prominently display the “X” symbol and the word “Close”. The close button should clearly stand out from the ad and page background and be placed in the top right of the flyover. Yahoo!7 may move the close button to ensure users can easily find it. Yahoo!7 may also reject any close button deemed unsuitable for a particular creative.
  • No flashing or strobing images
  • Advertisement must be PG rated
  • Ad message should be grammatically correct
  • Please note there should only be a maximum of two OTP booked to run under the same week, and can not be run in two consecutive dates
  • Eight-second OTP limit
  • The OTP will be capped once per day per user
  • Any creative proposal of an OTP which uses a mock of the news ‘switcher’ content module (see Yahoo!7 homepage to see news switcher in action) underneath should be discussed in advance with Yahoo!7 to avoid functionality which may confuse the user or interfere to much with the pages fnctionality.
  • OTPs must have ad feedback link (Yahoo!7 add this after receiving creative).
  • A replay button is not required but can be added to the end frame of the inline 300x250 banner.
  • Creative is subject to Yahoo!7 approval
  • A template is available for download here
